A significant leap forward in HF technology, the Thales HF XL waveform facilitates reliable broadband IP networking. It provides a flexible, easy-to-operate framework that maintains seamless integration with legacy infrastructure.

Thanks to new data rate waveforms, which are 10 times faster than legacy HF, combined with the use of 4th generation ALE (Automatic Link Establishment), the HF XL system can automatically select the best channels, the best bandwidth and the best throughput to transmit timely information like never before. HF XL also offers the feature to extending existing military networks like VHF, UHF and SATCOM, and offering BLOS coverage while maintaining a high level of service.

  • Special Forces IP link up to 600 km

    For decades, HF radio offered only low data rates (up to 9.6 Kbps) constrained by a single 3 kHz channel; A choke point for an IP backbone within a network-centric communications architecture. The TRC 3900 is a 20 W portable wideband manpack radio solution, conforming to the recently ratified STANAG 4539 opp H (HF XL), which deploys multiple non-contiguous channels with fast 4G ALE .

  • HF XL non-contiguous wideband HF

    HF XL operates on up to 16 non-contiguous 3 kHz channels using multi-carrier modulation within a 200 kHz band, meaning in a crowded spectrum, improved channel availability and total bandwidth maximization.Channels can be lost and re-established without affecting the overall link ; this creates link stability for a QoS not otherwise available in HF.

  • IP networkable solution

    A generic gateway between HF and any IP application means that there is no limitation in the type of IP flow that can be served, for instance, TCP as well as UDP in full duplex. In addition, the TRC 3900 is compatible with IP cryptographic equipment as well as offering a Quality of Service (QoS) as one of its pillars based on DSCP filing of IP packets.
