KUALA LUMPUR, 23 April 2026 – Today, at the 19th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA 2026), held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Advanced Defence Systems Sdn Bhd (ADS) and Safran Electronics & Defense have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaborations in the integration of advanced inertial navigation systems for the Malaysian Army’s artillery capabilities.
The MoU was signed by Major Idris Bin Yeop Hamzah (R), General Manager of ADS, and Xavier MARY, Vice President of Sales of Safran Electronics & Defense for Malaysia and was witnessed by The Honourable Tuan Adly Zahari, Deputy Minister of Defence.
This strategic understanding reflects the shared intent of both parties to leverage their respective strengths where Safran Electronic & Defense expertise in inertial navigation, and ADS’s capabilities in systems integration and maintenance to support potential future programs involving 105mm and 155mm artillery systems for the Malaysian Army.
Under the MoU, both parties will work in good faith to explore opportunities related to Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions, particularly focusing on the integration of Safran’s Geonyx Inertial Navigation Unit into artillery platforms such as the 155mm G5 and 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer (SPH) systems.
A joint working group will be established to further evaluate cooperation possibilities, define potential workshare arrangements, and assess market requirements. The collaborations aim to enhance operational effectiveness and precision capabilities for modern artillery systems.
This MoU is serves as a framework for continued discussions between the parties. Any future collaboration will be subject to separate definitive agreements.
